Behavioural Descriptive Interview Workshop

This video workshop provides tips, tricks, and examples to help you prepare for your BDI Interview.

The Behavioural Descriptive Interview (BDI) is based on the philosophy that past behaviour is the best predictor of future behaviour. The interview is completed in stage six of the application process and is designed to assess your character as it relates to the following five competencies:

  1. Interpersonal Skills
  2. Adaptability / Decisiveness
  3. Stress Management
  4. Valuing Service and Diversity
  5. Initiative / Perseverance

For more information on the competency and overall expectations for the interview please review the following document.

Applicant answers must be communicated in the STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) format. When explaining an experience or event, the STAR format should be a natural story telling progression.

Applicants will be graded using the following scoring rubric – download the scoring rubric here.

The BDI Prep – Video Workshop is designed to inform applicants about the format and techniques to be applied during the Behavioral Descriptive Interview. The workshop contains guidance on best practices and scenario examples to help applicants better understand the process and prepare for the day of the interview.
