The CPS Substance Use Policy has been amended to remove the prohibition on cannabis use by sworn members. While there is no restriction on a member’s cannabis use while off duty all CPS officers are responsible for ensuring that they are fit for duty and understanding how any substance may impact their workplace safety. Given the unpredictable nature of the effect of the use of cannabis, abstinence is certainly the recommended choice if you are unsure of how it will impact your workplace safety along with the safety of others.
