Before you Apply
Applying to become a police officer with the Calgary Police Service (CPS) requires detailed information and supporting documentation. Please allow enough time to carefully complete your application.
Before beginning your application, make sure you:
- Have passed the APCAT within the last five years. If not, click here for details regarding the pre-application APCAT requirement.
- Have all required documents ready to upload.

Important: Applications that are incomplete or missing required documents will not be considered until all required information has been received.
Recruitment Process
The recruitment process can take approximately six to nine months. As such, you must be mentally and physically ready to complete each stage of the process before you apply.

Required Supporting Documents
Please provide the following documents:
- Driver’s Licence (Class 5 or higher, non-GDL, showing your current home address)
- Proof of Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Proof of Citizenship/Status (one of the following):
- Birth certificate
- Canadian citizenship certificate or card
- Canadian permanent resident (PR) documentation
- Proof of High School Completion (one of the following):
- Official high school diploma
- Official transcripts
- Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC)
- General Educational Development (GED)
- If your education was completed outside Canada, you must provide an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from one of the following designated organizations:
- Comparative Education Service – University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies
- International Credential Assessment Service of Canada (ICAS)
- World Education Services (WES)
- International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS)
- International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES)
- Driver’s Abstract: Covering the past three years, with five demerit points or fewer.
- Volunteer Form (download PDF): Only required if you have volunteer experience.
- Medical Forms:
All medical forms must be printed and completed in ink by a qualified healthcare practitioner.- Vision Report (download PDF)
- Supplemental Vision Report (download PDF) – Only required if you have had corrective eye surgery.
