The information required for submission of your application for the position of Police Officer to the Calgary Police Service (CPS) is extensive. Please ensure you allow sufficient time to diligently complete your application. Application packages with incomplete or missing information will not be considered until all required documentation is provided. We have included this helpful checklist to ensure your application is complete.

It will take a minimum of nine months to complete the entire recruiting process. As such, you must be mentally and physically ready to complete each step of the process before you apply. We offer several applicant resources to help potential applicants determine their readiness.

Applications are valid for one year from the date of submission. Those who have been out of the selection process beyond this period must submit a new application. Applicants may be deferred, without appeal at any stage of the selection process. In some cases, permanent disqualification from reapplication may occur.

The hearing report, vision report, and supplementary vision report are to be printed and filled out pen/ink by the respective practitioner. Application Costs and Fees

  • Application fee: Applying to the Calgary Police Service is free.
  • Document costs: Applicant must pay for any documents required to apply (this includes Hearing, Vision, and Drivers Abstracts and any other applicable costs such as an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA), official copy of your education transcripts, and updates to your driver’s licence to reflect current address).
  • – Recruitment stage costs: The Calgary Police Service pays for tests and medical exams during recruitment (written testing, physical abilities test, truth verification, psychological testing and pre-employment medical).

Travel Costs

  • – Travel Expenses: Out of town applicants coming to Calgary for the Calgary Police Service recruiting process will assume responsibility for all travel costs.
