The Calgary Police Service (CPS) welcomes applications from currently serving sworn police officers from the following countries:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Republic of Ireland
  • United Kingdom

To be considered as an Experienced International Officer, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a currently serving, sworn police officer with a Municipal, State, Provincial, County, or National Police Service.
    • United Kingdom exceptions: Individuals currently serving as direct entry detectives, special constables, Ministry of Defence (MOD) police, civil nuclear constabulary, or parks and/or ports police may be eligible to apply through regular recruitment, as service in these roles does not qualify for experienced sworn police officer lateral recognition.
  • Have a minimum of two years continuous police service, inclusive of recruit training. United Kingdom applicants must be post-probationary.
  • Be eligible to resign from the police service in which you are currently employed.
  • Be free of any unpardoned criminal convictions and not subject to any criminal or internal investigation at the time an offer of employment is made.
